* The character you join with in The Dragonflight must be the main character you use while playing on the realm Kirin Tor. We are not an "Alt Guild"; Our rule is "One server: One guild". This includes Horde side Alts.
The members of The Dragonflight are very generous to each other, including new members but it is unrealistic to expect a guild to contribute it's time and resources to gear up a character that will not be able to dedicate themselves back to the guild in kind; nor is it realistic or fair to the other guilds the player belongs to.
This can particularly be a problem when guilds begin to raid and gear and rare drops should be shared with those that can help their guild mates in return. The nature of PvE progression is to defeat opponents to gain gear to be used to defeat opponents to gain gear to..... As such, characters with no intentions of contributing back to that progression have no need to benefit from it at our expense.
EXCEPTION: Many members have "alt" guilds to "hide" their extra alts from guild invite spam. It is acceptable to join one of these or create your own with the understanding that the guild is only for you and other guild mates alts. This has become a standard practice for many people in order to create their personal guild bank.
* Member rules are expected to be followed by the player, not the character. Members who are found to have behaved contrary to The Rules of Conduct on a non-guilded alternate character will be subject to the same discipline procedure as though on their guilded character.
* It is assumed there is only one player behind your character; the one we met and invited into the guild. While we do not police members sharing their accounts; this is Blizzard's province (See Blizzard's support page "How to Stay in the Game".) it is common courtesy to allow us to assume that the person behind the character is the person we know and allowed into our WoW "home".
If you share your account with someone, we simply ask that you do not share your characters guilded in TDF and ask them to respect this.
This also includes if you sell or give away your account to another individual; we ask if you do this to inform us and leave the guild.
Naming policy
Our policy with names is to keep them as close to "realistic" to the scope of Azeroth and the lore of World of Warcraft and role playing as possible.
"Leet", nonsense, offensive or names that do not even try to fit into the feel of the game, Lore or general spirit of Role Playing will not be considered. This includes Alternative characters (Alts) and nameable pets.
For example names such as Pwyndude, Sexybabe, KillerzU, Kissitank, Annihilator, Terminator (or misspelling of the latter type) and such would not be considered as even mild RP names. Though this policy has become a bit more relaxed to accomodate a varied style of player/raider, there is a line that we will not cross under any circumstances.
Conduct
Because of the caliber of people in The Dragonflight, the following rules of conduct may seem unnecessary and obvious. Many of the rules and guidelines are based on problems dealt with in other guilds, as well as issues and concerns that have been discussed or come up in The Dragonflight.
Members of The Dragonflight behave with honor and integrity at all times while in game, whether questing, instance/raid runs, PvP, speaking in channels or forums and role playing.
Again, please read these fully.
* Members will be courteous to ALL players in Azeroth at all times. This includes "the enemy". If it is something offensive in real life it is offensive in-game. This includes using RP as an excuse to harass other players.
* Members will use a civil tongue at all times:
o In guild chat, both in-character and out-of-character.
o In all in-game public chats, including general chat, public and private forums.
o This includes no swearing or "adult" subjects.
o No yelling in any private or public chat channels. (caps). No spamming /yell publicly.
* Members will never say anything derogative or disrespectful regarding a person's race, country, religion, gender, political affiliation, etc. For example; the term "Chinese farmers" would be considered racist (they are gold farmers); saying "oh that's gay" or similar slang terms that are derogatory to gender or the above list. In short: any derogatory terms to race, gender, religion, politics or other factions of society will not be tolerated: They are racist/offensive/etc.
* Sexual harassment of other players will not be tolerated. If a character tells you your attention isn’t wanted then respect that and leave them alone.
* Sexual terms and subject matter in public and guild channels will not be tolerated.
* Members will not give out personal real life information about other members or players either in or outside of the game without the permission of the member or player. This is in compliance with the ToS and ToA of WoW.
The following are obvious but must be pointed out regardless. Most are common courtesy but we all know that many do not behave courteously.
* Do not "ninja loot" (steal loot needed by another player; see Loot rules in members forum).
* Do not "chest steal" (take a chest someone else is fighting near and for).
* Do not "kill steal" (hit a mob that another player is aiming for or obviously already fighting thus stealing it.)
* Do not take herbs, minerals, skins or any other gathering items in the game if another player got to it first. Particularly if a player is clearing an area of mobs to get to the item; be courteous and ask if they need it. If the other faction wait and see if they move on after.
* Do not "train" mobs onto another player (hitting and dragging mob into the aggro field of another fighting player).
***Accidents do happen though. If such an accident does occur be courteous and respectful. Attempt to rectify the situation if at all possible, but understand that you may have already overly agitated the other person. Do not feel the need to subject yourself to any sort of flaming or derogatory remarks. Simply identify the problem, offer a means to rectify it, and leave it up to the 'victim'.
World PVP Rules
The above is also directed to your behavior to "the enemy". Be courteous to all players but specific to the opposing faction:
* Do not "gank" (attack a player in greater numbers giving them no chance for fair battle and/or killing a player or players of lower level who have no chance for fair battle.)
* Do not corpse-camp (stand waiting for an enemy to resurrect after death and kill them immediately; over and over)
* Do not intentionally kill NPC quest givers in the opposing faction's territory.
* Do not use exploits to engage unflagged players of the opposing faction. For example, attacking warlocks' minions or using AOE spells near opposing faction players while engaged in quest/mob battles (the latter might have been fixed but is an example) or any other activity that might force the other player to "flag".
Remember your honor is The Dragonflight's honor.
Battleground/Raid PvP Rules
* Read above rules pertaining to behavior, attitude and exploits toward the opposite faction.
* Any member who is known to have used an alt or used other means such as Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, IM or phones to relay information on tactics for BG or raids being planned or implemented by the other faction; Or to warn members of the opposite faction of tactics for BG or raids being planned or implemented by the other faction, can be removed from the guild after a Counsel vote. This behavior is not only considered an exploit and so against Blizzard's rules of the game but is considered dishonorable.
* And yes... this means giving us information from your Horde alts as well. This is a game not a real war and we don't need to win by anything else but our skill. Anything else is an exploit, cheating, bad form, and dishonorable.
The above rules or the "one server/one guild" rule is not meant to imply that members can not have alts on the opposing faction's side, have friends on the opposing faction or communicate at all with the opposing faction. Only that you can only belong to one guild in either faction on Kirin Tor or that you can not use the above mentioned means to relay "sensitive" information giving either faction the upper hand. Doing so or using communication outside of the game for this purpose, is working outside of the "natural" game mechanics of WoW and so is considered an exploit. And as stated above, dishonorable.)
(See Blizzard's support page "How to Stay in the Game".)
Many members of The Dragonflight are involved in the PvP aspects of the game; They fight with honor at all times.
General Conduct Guidelines
* Members will not commence an instance without informing the party should they be in battlegrounds queue, or may need to leave for any reason before the run is started. It is courteous to inform group members for quests of this as well. This has recently become an issue on Kirin Tor; This has *always* been a rule in The Dragonflight and always will. Furthermore, I have never been in a guild nor would I be in a guild that did not have this rule in place. It is beyond Common Courtesy to allow your group to know you can not finish with them; even just the possibility.
* Do not beg. Either for help, items or money. You can ask friends for loans in private, but unsolicited begging or guild chat begging is not tolerated. The people of The Dragonflight are the kindest, most helpful people in Azeroth particularly to fellow guild members but we do not "carry" members of the guild.
* Try to help down the line in the guild: 60's help 50's, who help 40's etc. Please do not ask high level members to help you with quests outside of advice. If a higher level has helped you; repay them by volunteering to help a lower than you guild member.
* The Dragonflight does not "power level" members nor encourage this. Power Leveling means a higher level character pulling a lower member behind them through their quests and instances quickly. There is no advantage to either the guild or the player: You learn by playing the game and leveling "naturally".
* Only in The Dragonflight would I find it necessary to say this; do not be too nice. You have a right to spend your game time working on your own quests and such. It’s ok to say "No" sometimes.
* Don't cheat, including game exploits. This includes purchasing gold online. See Blizzard's support page "How to Stay in the Game".
* Members caught using exploits, buying gold, engaging leveling companies or breaking any other of the Terms of Use with Blizzard can be removed from the guild.
Your Real Life, Family, and Friends
Real Life does come first. Even though you are expected to be loyal to the guild and attend events and functions or have guild responsibilities, it is assumed that you will not put aside your Real Life activities and needs for the guild. This may seem obvious or even silly to have to point out but I have had many members apologize to me for not being able to attend functions or other aspects of the guild because of Real Life obligations. It is assumed the game comes last in your life, as it should.
Final Point: If you have friends, relatives, or spouses that you wish to join with you they must apply separately. If your joining Dragonflight is contingent on their also joining, please tell us that on both your applications.
